Focus Meeting
- Focus meetings will continue to be held on Fridays at 9 a.m. EST
- The decision was made to open the meeting to all community members and hold the meeting on Freenode IRC in #foresight-council
- Agendas will be published no later than Noon CST the Thursday before the meeting
- Closed sessions could be held in the future after the open meeting to discuss OEM opportunities for example
In Development
- 2.25.x kernel in 2-QA, needs to be pushed to fl:2 soon
- New kernel fixes live images. Ken needs to follow up on extra flavor possibly needed. Lower priority.
- Mono stack rebuilt and pushed to 2-qa
- New GDM in 2-qa
- NetworkManager should be mush more stable
- gxti continues to work on a caching appliance for PackageKit
- 2.02 ISOs to be released next week / end of May
Future Development
- Single CD ISO
- Had to remove OOo and locales
- Need to follow up with Elliot on LiveCD Installer
- Feature parity with other distributions including bluetooth, hunspell and Java
- Encrypted filesystem
- Reduce group cook time to ~40 minutes
- FL-1380: Creating a kick ass desktop
- Foresight continues to focus on the user in creating an easy to use next generation desktop
- New themes / panels and desktop interaction for the user
- Faster boot time
- PackageKit development
Security Team
- Security team space set up on the wiki
- Need to work with smithj on documenting security release process and announcements
- Minor security updates have slipped through
- Need to reach out to Up2 to help coordinate with rpl security updates
Marketing
- Marketing meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 29th by Kevin
- Linux Format magazine (Europe) had a great write-up on Foresight in the latest issue
- 2 page review with screenshots
- Included on DVD
- "One of the most promising distros around"
- Paul to follow up with them to try and get copies
