Focus Meeting Minutes - May 9th, 2008
Development
Current items in development:
- Firefox 3 (Beta 5): In QA as of the first week of May, promoted to fl:2 by the end of the month
- Mono: Need to get Mono bumped to the latest version, and all of Mono rebuilt to make it multi-lib safe
- System wide dictionary: Moving from aspell to hunspell
- NetworkManager: Still buggy, but even Fedora shipped the same version with the same bugs, so more than just a Foresight issue (Latest version isn't connecting automatically on wired networks)
- New kernel to be promoted to 2:qa next week
- Promote 2:qa branch to fl:2 by the end of the month
- PackageKit updates from 20/20 in next PK release (better update information)
Priorities:
- 2-qa pushed to fl:2
- Mono bumped
- Kernel promoted to 2-qa
Future Development (after the above is completed):
- Python 2.5
- KDE promoted to 2-qa
- OpenOffice.org Beta scheduled for 2:devel in August
Shuttle Partnership
- Ken built an install appliance for Shuttle (Pxe, dhcp, nfs, etc)
- Wrote kickstart configs
- Deployed with a TG application to collect installation information to faciliate audits
- Should reduce installation mistakes by Shuttle going forward
Foresight Versions
- KDE: Focusing on 3.5 Alpha release
- Need to get group-kde promoted to 2:qa for testing
- Council to schedule monthly cross-version team meeting (XFCE, GNOME, KDE) with Mark__T, int, jtate, kenvandine and doniphon
- Discuss milestones and goals to facilitate communication to users
- Needed infrastructure (Groups, images, etc)
- Possibly Fridays after Focus meeting
- Paul to reach out to version leads and schedule
Misc. Updates
- Wiki re-organization 80% complete using wiki layout discussed at 20/20
- Need to update the Getting involved space and organize by team
- Add tasks by team
- Update the Community section to provide transparenency
- Include list of formalized users and developers and get better at the agenda for adding more members
- gxti working on mirrors for Foresight appliance and caching appliance for PackageKit
- JIRA: Needs additional workflows added, gxti may be willing to help, but needs additional direction on what needs to be done (gxti to focus on mirrors first)
- Packaging Contest: Need tor review packages, recipes and assign points by the end of the month (Paul to follow up with pscott)
- Tetnatively scheduled sprint to review for May 23rd - May 25th
- Monthly Communication: Paul to follow up with sub-team leads for a monthly updates from the sub-team leads (Marketing, QA, Versions, etc)

- Faciliate conversation between teams
- Provide updates for users
- Revive newsletter and help provide content for that
