Liferea (Linux Feed Reader) is an aggregator for online news feeds. It brings the web to the desktop in a similar way to an email client (evolution) brings emails to you.
Please note: Not all sites provide feeds. News sites, planets, blogs and forums are good places to look for feeds.

Viewing Feeds
The standard layout has three panes. On the left is the feed list: Clicking a feed source opens gets the headlines, and displays it in the top-right pane. Clicking a headline brings up the content of the selected post. To open a post in your web-browsers, just double click the headline.
Adding Feed
When you first start liferea you are presented with a selection of Foresight related feeds.
To add your own feeds click the "New Subscription" button on the toolbar. This brings up a dialog for you to enter the address of the site you want to subscribe to.
Once the address is entered; press the OK button.
If all goes to plan your new subscription should be in the feed list on the left.
If this did not work. Try the following:
Organising Feeds
Feeds can be organised in two ways:
Folders:
Folders are the simplest way to organise your feeds. Create a new folder by clicking 'subscriptions' on the menu and selecting "New Folder...". This brings up a dialog to enter the name of the new folder.
Drag existing sources from the feed list on the left to the folder; or to add a new feed directly to the folder, select the folder before adding a subscription in the standard way.
Search Folders:
Search folders are intelligent folders. Any feeds that match specified criteria are added to the search folder. Create a new search folder by clicking 'subscriptions' on the menu and selecting "New Search Folder...". Enter a name for your folder and add some rules.
Any posts that match the rules will be automatically added to this search folder.
