FAQ Page Creation

Members of the Foresight Docs Team should monitor the Q&A on the Foresight Forum on a regular basis and create FAQ pages in this Confluence Space when appropriate to aid individuals who have the same question later.

To create a new page in the FAQ space, use the following guidelines:

1. Browse or search the space to ensure there are no duplicates to the intended material.
2. Click Add Page on the left to add a new page, and be sure to do the following as part of page creation:
   1. Be sure above the Add Page title it shows the FAQ space name; this is automatic if you used Add Page while on a page within the FAQ space.
   2. Use the Select a page template to select the faq_template template for this Confluence Space.
   3. In the template, replace $QUESTION and $ANSWER as appropriate with the new question and its answer. When the answer is long, continue to insert content with any necessary markup. Make sure, though, you do not remove any of the template text other than the two variables.
   4. Give the page a title resembling a newspaper-like headline appropriate to the question asked. For example, if the question is "How do I find new packages to install on my Foresight system?" the title could be something similar to "Finding Software to Install."
3. If an existing FAQ page is related to or a supplemental part of the new page, be sure to cross-link those pages appropriately.
4. After saving the page, be sure it is visible when indexing the pages in the FAQ space.
5. If a Foresight Forum post prompted the creation of the FAQ, be sure to post a reply with a link to the new FAQ page.
